Gibson A-50 Mandolin (1940)
This A-50's unique and larger 11" "bell" shaped bound body was a short-lived variation on a sought-after model. It has a sunburst finish, spruce top with large f-holes, highly figured maple back and sides, mahogany neck with paddle peghead features "Gibson" logo and flowerpot inlay, and a bound 20-fret Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearl varied pattern inlays (similar to Nick Lucas). Hiscox thermoplastic hard shells case. Made in Kalamazoo, USA.
